Daiquiri Party at 10 Arts Celebrates the Return of a Summertime Classic
July 10 party will feature refreshing, restrained variations of the rum cocktail from The Ritz-Carlton resorts around the world
PHILADELPHIA (July 2, 2014) – Served chilled, and usually frozen and fruity, daiquiris are hot this summer. And while this quintessential summer cocktail is making a comeback in cities like Philadelphia, New York and Boston, the refreshing rum-based drink has long been a staple in warm-weather resort destinations.
The Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia celebrates the return of this classic cocktail in the northeast with a special happy hour party on Thursday, July 10. The hotel will be offering a curated cocktail menu of noteworthy daiquiris from other The Ritz-Carlton hotels and resorts around the world.
“Summer calls for a refreshing, more restrained cocktail – something that is simple and a bit sweet, without all of the complicated infusions, handmade ingredients and multiple steps that have been the recent trend for fall and winter,” said Elias Van Niekerk, the hotel’s assistant director of food and beverage. “There hasn’t been a daiquiri on our menu for a few years, and we’re excited to reintroduce one in the form of The Philadaiquiri. In the process of creating this, we looked at what our colleagues at Ritz-Carlton destinations were doing, and thought, why not introduce our drink alongside some of our other favorites?”
The F&B team taste-tested dozens of recipes and variations as they created a signature daiquiri for 10 Arts Lounge. Among those being highlighted will be drinks from Naples and Key Biscayne.
All of the daiquiris being offered on July 10 are $10 and are made with premium Caliche Rum, a six-generation-old rum from the Serrallés Family Distillery in Puerto Rico.
The destination-inspired daiquiris will only be available from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on July 10. The Philadaiquiri makes its debut that night but will be offered all summer long as part of the regular drink menu.
ABOUT THE RITZ-CARLTON, PHILADELPHIA
Just as Philadelphia memorably combines history with style, so too does The Ritz Carlton, Philadelphia unite the elegance of the past with the chic appeal of today. The luxury hotel’s 300 guest rooms and 36 suites – including the city’s only penthouse suite – welcome guests with amenities like flat-screen televisions, wireless Internet, bath-butler services and complimentary overnight shoe shines. Yet other features, like the 9,000 tons of original Georgian marble still on property and the original vault door that now opens to a ballroom, imbue the hotel with an inimitable elegance that speaks to the building’s history as much as to today’s appreciation for artisanal craftsmanship. The luxury hotel offers more practical attractions as well, such as its 10 Arts Bistro & Lounge, where guests taste local ingredients prepared in regional dishes. The property’s full-service Richel D’Ambra Spa & Salon, meanwhile, provides the perfect antidote to a day spent conducting business within the hotel’s 26,000 square feet of event space. And with a location that’s just steps away from the city’s best retail, dining and cultural offerings, the hotel lets visitors easily explore the best of this vibrant and historic city.
